Medical advancements over the recent years have made miracles for those who are suffering from various health problems. Developments and discoveries of alternative medicines have provided viable treatment for illnesses, and even made miracles in conception and reproduction. In-vitro fertilization has made conception and having children possible for couples who have difficulty in conceiving.

These days, however, it seems that couples are not the only market for the technology. In the United Kingdom, about twenty-five young women, all virgins and heterosexual, have undergone the procedure over the last five years. According to The Daily Mail UK,  some of the young women opt to go for IVF so that there will be no need to involve men in the process. Some have also expressed that they are ready to become a parent already.

All twenty-five women are already in their twenties. Others who are included in the number said that they would like to save themselves for a "special relationship". The issue has raised different opinions and responses regarding birth and raising a family. Times of India reported that while the church and other religious organizations are apparently against the practice, there are some who deem the women capable of raising the children on their own.

National Gamete Donation Trust chief executive Laura Witjens pointed out that many tend to "freak out"  when they hear of single women who want to be mothers without a partner involved. Witjens reinforced the choice of such women, saying, "These women have a right to choose this path if they want to, but clinics do have a responsibility to consider why they want to do so."

At least four clinics have also been found to help the women have the IVF to get pregnant, the Mail has reported. Care Fertility, one of the clinics, has five clinics around England. Religious groups are strongly against the practice of the women involved, saying that having IVF and raising the children on their own does not  consider the importance and the stability a marriage can provide the children.
