U.S. State Department Finds More Classified Information in Hillary Clinton's Emails

Hilary Clinton Emails

(Photo : Reuters) The U.S. State Department has announced that its latest review of Hilary Clinton's emails shows that there are much more confidential materials therein than previously thought.

The U.S. State Department has announced on Wednesday that its latest review of Clinton's emails shows that one out of five messages can be considered as confidential.  The Democrat presidential candidate is facing criticisms for mixing her official correspondence with private emails.

The Washington Times reported that Clinton's email account routinely received messages loaded with trojan viruses. In case she clicked on the attachment, hackers would have accessed her computer files.

Clinton has denied that her private server leaked any sensitive government information. But the latest revelation shows that she exposed such data to hackers who were attempting to get them

The presidential candidate told a confidant via email that she thinks her email account was continually being attacked by hackers.

One of Clinton's aides, Anne-Marie Slaughter wrote in an email that the State Department's electronic communication set-up is so obsolete that officials have to use their personal email accounts if they want to accomplish their work on time.

Clinton reportedly insisted on using her private email account instead of a government account that was offered to her during her stint as State Secretary. Choosing a private account exempted her messages from public review due to privacy laws. It took four years and a demand both Congress and the State Department before her emails were opened for government review and public viewing.

Political opponents have criticized Clinton for the way she handled her official communications. Republican Party spokesperson Reince Preibus practically called Clinton a liar when she said earlier that there was no confidential information on her private server.

One of her email messages also provided a source of embarrassment to Clinton. In public, she openly declared her support for gay rights. But her email messages indicates that she is more careful in dealing with the issue, according to the LA Times.

Even her disagreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nethanyahu was revealed in her email messages. In 2010, Clinton was negotiating with Nethanyahu on several agendas that she thinks will help push through the peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians. However, the Israeli prime minister would not accommodate her requests, according to The New York Times.
