Social network giant Facebook announced it will track subscribers' ad activities among all user devices to show advertisers the efficacy of their ads.

The social network giant offer advertisers statistics on how their ads are performing. Facebook announced it would give more "granular data" on how its users interact with ads and make purchases, according to PC Magazine.

"Today we're launching cross-device reporting for Facebook ads, enabling advertisers to see for the first time how people are moving between devices" before buying something, Facebook said in a blog post.

Facebook will start collecting information such as if a user tapped an ad on his phone but went to his laptop before buying the item. It will also tell advertisers if a user saw the ad on a desktop but purchased the item from an Android device.

Facebook will give this data to advertisers for them to figure out the best method of displaying their ads.

"With the new cross-device report, advertisers are now able to view the devices on which people see ads and the devices on which (purchases) subsequently occur," Facebook said.

The social network company previously tested the service with a few interested advertisers and has announced it will accept additional applicants.

Companies that sign up will be able to see the results of their ads on the Facebook Ad Report it will receive. Advertisers can view the information by going to the "Edit Columns" on the report and selecting "Cross-Device" on the menu on the left.

Facebook's decision to deploy the new ad system could elicit concerns among information privacy advocates who have long been bothered by the company's reach.

The change comes in the wake of social networking site Twitter's release of video ads earlier in August. Both Facebook and Twitter have been testing new ad schemes to bring in more funding from advertisers.
