This November a global organization has a special challenge for all men out there. The Movember Foundation that aims to improve men's health by encouraging men everywhere to grow mustache for a cause.

"Prostate cancer is the male equivalent of breast cancer, in terms of the number of men that die from it and are diagnosed with it," according to Movember.

The organization aims to raise funds for four main health issues affecting men, namely, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, physical inactivity and mental health. Growing a facial hair aims to send a message to its audience. "The state of men's health is in a crisis, (and) men are dying too young," the group said.

Furthermore, those who will join the cause are encouraged to record their mustache growth progress and share the word on their social media accounts. "For 30 days your mustache turns you into a walking, talking billboard for men's health," the group posted on their official website.

In Canada, the month of November is otherwise known as "Movember" as this is the time of the year where men will grow moustaches, beard, whiskers, goatees or whatever they call them as a sign of supporting the movement.

However, it is a bit extra special this year as women can help support the group by taking part on the MOVE challenge. Derived form the first four letters of Movember, MOVE is a 30-day fitness challenge and a means for women to motivate the men in their lives to stay physically and mentally fit.

The Movember Foundation has its humble beginning in Australia with only 30 participants in 2003, known as Mo Bros. It has already raised $650 million and has funded over 1000 health-based programs focused particularly on the four problems mentioned above. Last year, it had over 4.7 million Mo Bros and Sistas. As per Global Geneva, Movember ranked 72nd on a list of the top 500 NGOs worldwide.
