Savannah Guthrie Gives Birth to Baby Girl

Welcome to the world, Vale!

Savannah Guthrie just gave birth to a baby girl and her family, both onscreen and offscreen, just couldn't be happier. Her "Today" show co-hosts excitedly announced the news on Thursday.

Vale Guthrie Feldman, the first child for both parents, was born early Wednesday, weighing 8.5 pounds and measuring 19.5 inches. Mike Feldman, Guthrie's husband, was beside the 42-year old host the whole time.

Guthrie and Feldman were married March this year in Tucson, Arizona and announced Guthrie's pregnancy during their wedding reception.

Guthrie took to Twitter early Thursday to hint on the birth. "My 3am wake up call sounds a lot different now. Sweeter...," she wrote.

Feldman retweeted his wife's post, adding, "This sound is like music to my ears."

At the "Today" show, Guthrie's co-hosts announced the news, sharing that Vale had blonde hair and blue eyes.

Guthrie added to the description, saying that Vale has the chubbiest cheeks."The baby is more cheek than baby at the moment," she shared.

Co-host Matt Lauer shared on-cam that he was messaging with Guthrie the night before when all of a sudden, she stopped replying. After hours of not hearing from Guthrie, Lauer received a photo from Guthrie of Vale's foot.

According to Lauer, the name "Vale" means "valley by a stream" and that the couple chose the name because she was so peaceful and quiet - that is, until 10 pm when she decided to start crying. The new parents happily fussed over their newborn daughter.

Natalie Morales, another co-host of Guthrie's, shared that the new mother is tired but is extremely happy.

Guthrie took her maternity leave on Monday, a week before her due date.

NBC has yet to announce a temporary replacement for the host while she enjoys the first few months of motherhood.
