Japanese champion skater Mao Asada bagged the 2015 Audi Cup of China on Saturday, a year after she returned to the Grand Prix series.

Mao Asada, a three-time world champion, finished with 197.48 points to rise over Rika Hongo who has 195.76 points and win the Cup of China. Russian World championship bronze medalist Yelena Radionova collected 184.28 points to occupy the third place, according to an AP report published on Fox Sports.

The Cup of China marks Asada's return to the Grand Prix series after taking a year off.  It is also her 15th victory in the Grand Prix series, the Bleacher Report adds.

Asada performed a triple axel on her opening, but she faltered halfway through that routine. The champion skater later on expressed her dissatisfaction because of her jumping errors, which included a fall during a triple flip-triple loop combination. She also took a penalty because of her late start, the report relays.

Still, Asada also recognized that she is already one step closer to the Grand Prix Final this December. The 25-year-old skater said she is determined to improve her skills and routine more so that she would come out at the top.

"I wasn't satisfied today. I feel like there are areas that need working on in the free program but I have taken one step toward the Grand Prix Final (in December)," said Asada.

Asada first participated in the Grand Prix series in 2005 when she was still 15 years old. At the time, she edged out Shizuka Arakawa to take the second place at the Cup of China, NBC Sports details.

Now, Mao Asada has become the only singles skater who won all of the current Grand Prix events. On Nov. 27, she will be in Nagano at the NHK Trophy, where she is expected to display another strong performance for her home fans.
