Knowing your heart rate when running and listening to music is now possible with SMS Audio.

The smart headphone called "SMS Audio's BioSport In-Ear Headphones" was created by the American rapper, 50 Cent.

50 Cent and Brian Nohe, former KonoAudio president, became partners with SMS Audio in designing first line of headphones in 2011 and 2012.

50 Cent or Curtis James Jackson III in real life said he wants a kind of headphone with top-quality audio that at the same time can track running activity and heart rate.

SMS Audio's BioSport In-Ear Headphones contain sensors that measure the heart rate of users. It gets that power from a smartphone via a 3.5 mm audio jack. Batteries are not needed.

The lightweight fitness headphones also count the number of steps taken by a user and how fast his ticker's racing.

It also includes software that plays music to help the users sustain a target heart rate.

It also has a new ear hook design which resembles the previous SMS Audio exercise buds.

"Open the box, plug it into your smartphone device and it works," said Nohe.

BioSport In-Ear Headphones will work using RunKeeper, a popular Android and iOS fitness app that tracks the user's fitness.

According to reports, SMS Audio Headphone uses Intel's health monitoring technology to deliver accurate heart rate readings.

Mike Bell, Intel's vice president and general manager of the New Devices Group, said the company didn't want to use Bluetooth or any other wireless technologies to transfer data because it requires batteries and won't not fit in the small size of headphones.

SMS Audio's BioSport In-Ear Headphones is ready for shipping in the fourth quarter. The price will be announced later.
