Los Angeles Lakers guard-forward Nick Young has been the subject of many NBA trade rumors this year, and the latest buzz is that the Memphis Grizzlies are interested in acquiring him as head coach David Joerger reportedly "needs more shooters" for his squad.

All About Rookies, a fan-made blog at Sportsblog, mentioned the rumor on Monday saying that "the Memphis Grizzlies look to find a 3-point shooter and offensively talented guard to help improve their lineup" in an effort to boost their campaign this season.

Memphis is considered one of the best teams in the Western Conference for several years now, but their start to the current season seems shaky as they struggle to keep up with the championship contender in their first few games.

As of now, the Grizz is at the bottom four of the standings with a 3-5 record and is presently on a three-game losing skid.

Their renowned "Grit and Grind" play does not seem to be working in this year's regular season, and Joerger reportedly wants to bring in more shooters to their lineup to probably play small ball as well.

The Sportsblog article said the Grizzlies are second to the last in shooting from beyond the arc this early in the season at 27 percent, with the Brooklyn Nets trailing them the bottom spot at 0-7 so far.

This clearly indicates that Memphis needs to have more shooters other than their starting point guard Mike Conley Jr.

Just recently, Memphis acquired Mario Chalmers from the Heat, most likely to address that deficiency, but they still need more.

And so Young is one of the best and most available names mentioned in trade rumors.

The Lakers have been trying to look for a trade partner for the 30-year-old volume shooter all throughout the offseason since they acquired Lou Williams from the Toronto Raptors, but have yet to find the right deal.

Lakers Nation reported in July that "Williams is essentially the same player as Young, except smaller, slightly (and I do mean, ever... so... slightly) more responsible in his shot selection", and so Iggy Azalea's fiancé is slowly becoming expendable in Byron Scott's rotation.

Memphis could offer future draft picks or Jeff Green, who is also rumored to be in the trading block this season, as he can help the Lakers' small forward issues, but only if Los Angeles includes Ryan Kelly in the mix, according to ESPN's NBA Trade Machine
