Los Angeles Lakers' head coach Byron Scott's head is on the line this season as many fans and supporters have called out his firing as the Hollywood squad continues to struggle under his one season and seven games of care. Former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau is reportedly the first choice, but the name of Scott Brooks is also being mentioned as a top candidate.

Lakers Nation recently indicated that the team may be "mortgaging their future to honor Byron Scott and Kobe Bryant" as the Lakers are not able to properly develop and make the most out of their young talents, such as Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, and D'Angelo Russell.

With the team's focus on former player Scott and the aging Bryant, their future is beginning to look bleaker and bleaker as regular season games pass.

Earlier this week, suggestions of Thibodeau replacing Scott as the Lakers' head honcho have made rounds online and fans all over the world were ecstatic about it, although there were no confirmations whether Mitch Kupchak and company are talking to Thibs or if they are actually contemplating on sacking Scott.

However, just recently, Brooks' name has been included in the head coach options for the Lakers. Fansided noted that the former Oklahoma City Thunder boss could offer "development" to arguably the league's most popular franchise.

The report said that the 50-year-old bench tactician "would not have D'Angelo Russell on the bench in the fourth quarter of tight games" as he had proven his capacity to develop young talent and make them championship contenders just like what he did with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden in OKC.

Imagine what Brooks can do with Randle, Clarkson, and Russell at this point of their careers? He would provide them necessary growth, to say the least.

Another advantage for the Lakers if they can get Brooks to take over from Scott will be felt next summer, during the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.

Brooks could definitely draw Durant to move to Hollywood if he is in town, while the Lakers will have the cap space to welcome KD as Kobe's salary gets unloaded.
