Hunger Games Calls Off Red Carpet Interviews in Light of Paris Attacks

Stars behind the much anticipated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, namely, Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson

(Photo : Getty Image) Lionsgate decided to skip all the red carpet interviews at the premier of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 on Monday in wake of the tragedy in Paris.

In light of the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, France, this past Friday, Lionsgate decided to call off all red carpet interviews of the Monday's Los Angeles premier of The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2.

"Out of respect for the very recent events in Paris, we have decided to modify our red carpet, and we will not conduct interviews at Monday's Mockingjay 2 premiere," the company announced in a statement released to EW and PEOPLE. "We will proceed with the rest of the event as planned in honor of the incredible fans who have always supported our films with such passion."

After the city-wide terror attacks that left more than 120 people dead, the scheduled premier of some movies have been cancelled such as Bridge of Spies by Steven Spielberg and Jane Got a Gun, distributed by French company Mars Distribution, starring Natalie Portman. U2's iNNOCENCE+eXPERIENCE world tour scheduled for this week has also been cancelled and the Foo Fighters European tour was cut short.

Several Hunger Games stars have taken to social media to express their sympathy and support to the people of Paris. Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gale Hawthrone tweeted "My deepest thoughts and feelings go out to all those affected in Paris right now." Fellow co-star Willow Shields, who portrays Katniss' younger sister Primrose Everdeen, shared a photo with a tweet with the hastag #PrayForParis.

The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2 is the final installment of Suzanne Collins novel four-part series. The movie, which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, will roll its curtains up on Friday.
