The on-demand, peer-to-peer hauling and moving platform Buddytruk lets users with minivans or trucks apply to be a mover.

The app, which is currently on the iOS, lets movers take pictures of their items and furniture that they wish to move and the photo is relayed to all for-hire drivers in the particular region. The driver that would accept the task would arrive at the person-in-need's location to pack the items and transport it to the desired destination, according to Tech Crunch.

Buddytruk, which lets its users transport up to a maximum of two items, is currently operating in Los Angeles, Ca. However, founder and chief executive officer Brian Foley said they're expanding the service to New York City and other cities.

An algorithm within the program tracks the mileage and time spent in transporting the items. To prevent discrepancies in readings, users would be given a push notification when the vehicle starts and stops moving. An hour of the service takes around $40 and the rate goes down over time.

From the total of the profits, 80 percent of the payment goes to the driver's pocket, and the company receives the remaining 20 percent. The Buddytruk service does not have a time minimum, so if the length of the ride is only 10 minutes, the user would be charged for it accordingly.

People that would like to apply to be a driver could go to the Buddytruk website or the app itself. The applicant is checked for a criminal record and his or her status at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The vehicle that the potential driver owns would be inspected as well when the shipper meets with the applicant.

The app lets the chauffeurs rate the transport as well. The CEO said that it would help get feedback if a driver had difficulty in the delivery, whether the user isn't at the agreed location or is attempting to transport more than two items.
