From cab-hailing services to delivering cute kittens for adoption, Uber is pulling off another innovative, one-day-only stunt. This time the company is delivering nurses and flu shots right to your doorstep in a four-hour window.

On Thursday, Nov. 19, Uber users can order a wellness pack that contains hand sanitizers, bottles of water, tissues and up to 10 shots of flu vaccines from 11 am to 3 pm at no additional cost of $10. Accompanying the pack will be nurses from the Passport Health travel immunization service, who are tasked with administering the doses.

This is the second time the company is embarking on a flu vaccination drive. Last year, it covered cities like Boston, Washington and New York and has successfully gave 2000 vaccinations. This year, along with Uber's new project "UberHealth," the company said they will be catering to 35 cities with the campaign slogan Bringing house calls back.

"Convenience and delivery method are both key components of many people's decision of whether or not to get a flu shot," UberHealth stated.  "With (Dr. Brownstein's) guidance and expertise, we will be able to identify other ways we can leverage the Uber platform so we can drive to a healthier future."

The team is planning to prepare 10,000 flu shots and hundreds of nurses to deploy. A report published last Tuesday in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine stated that almost 80 per cent of people revealed that without on-demand delivery, they would not mind not getting a flu shot.

"This is basically a hard-to-reach population," Brownstein, Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School epidemiologist, said in an interview. "They're not opposed to the vaccine. It's just not part of their routine."

Meanwhile, the campaign also goes to show Uber's potential to deliver on-demand services, an act outside their comfort zone as a ride-sharing app. Aside from the adopt a kitten promotion that they have been doing every National Cat Day (October 29) for three years already, the company has also tried delivering food, courier services, water taxi service and carpooling worldwide, according to RT
