It first started with a million dollars with a portion of REQ packs sold out inside "Halo 5" to raise the prize money. This naturally implies that at least $700,000 worth of REQ packs have already been sold out, creating a feasibility of spending more on microtransaction packs.

However, the truth of the promotion is that only a portion of every purchase will go to the prize money. The rest of what would be earned will go to 343 industries and Microsoft. They have promised to keep all map downloadable contents for free, and this is the very reason why they have amounts for microtransactions, Twinfinite reported.

343 Industries explains the mechanics saying that avid fans have contributed a lot to make 'Halo' better in terms of creativity and inputs. But for the very first time in Halo sports history, they are offered with a chance to contribute directly to the million dollars Halo World Championship prize money and make it grow larger in proportions.

A certain portion of the REQ packs sold out with real money in 'Halo 5 Guardians' will go to funding the tournament's pot money. Despite the fact that they started with a small amount, the generosity and passion of the Halo community has made it reach over $700,000. It is hoped that it will grow more before the World Championship, which is scheduled for March 2016. It may reach even $2 million dollars.

All 16 teams from around the world will compete in the Halo World Championship in an arena-style multi-gaming. The tournament is expected to begin on Dec. 6 and should run till its finals on the 19th and 20th of March.
