Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console turned 10 on Monday, Nov. 23. This date also coincides with the second year anniversary of the company's newest gaming console, the Xbox One.

Former Xbox chief product officer and current Sonos chief product officer Marc Whitten posted a tweet on his official Twitter account saying "So proud of the legacy of Xbox 360. The system built with a service inside turn 10. Congrats to the team & the fans that made it."

Whitten added that even though his opinion might be one-sided, he still consider the Xbox 360 as the "one of the most important consoles in history." As of June 2014, Microsoft had shipped 84 million units of the Xbox 360 console worldwide.

Many tech analysts said that time has been very good to the Xbox 360. Evidence of this is the recent backwards compatibility feature that will allow Xbox One gamers to play their favorite Xbox 360 video game titles on the new console. Currently, around 100 Xbox 360 games are available to be played on the Xbox One console, according to PC Mag.

The Xbox 360 console has had its own share of ups and downs through its ten arduous years of existence.

For some, the success of the Xbox 360 can be traced back to some of the most iconic exclusive video game titles that came with the console. The most successful of these exclusive titles are the "Halo" and "Gears of War" franchises.

Xbox 360 has also managed to tap some titles that were initially planned for exclusive release on PlayStation 3, its closest rival. Some of these titles include "Devil May Cry," "Final Fantasy XIII," "Tekken 6," "Metal Gear Solid: Rising," and "Grand Theft Auto IV."

According to Neowin, one of the most notable problems the Xbox 360 faced is the infamous Red Ring of Death hardware problem. It was first reported early in April 2008 and has the possibility to render the console completely useless.
