The site claimed that the photos showed n iOS 7 lay out but the iPhone 6 has been confirmed to run the iOS 8 update. The Calendar app icon of the leaked photos also showed the wrong size and thickness.

TMZ claimed the device it gotten hold of, which it believed was the iPhone 6, was smuggled by an ex-employee from a Foxconn factory.

Meanwhile, a Chinese website claims that the iPhone 6 will have bigger screens and will be named the iPhone 6L. Apple has kept the name and specification of its next generation iPhone a secret but rumors have it that the new iPhone will have up to 5.5-ince screens.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that the next iPhone will use the ultra-durable sapphire glass, which could mean that the new iPhone will be more expensive.

The use of sapphire glass, a costly material, into the iPhone also underlines Apple's huge bet on its appeal to consumers, who may be taken aback by the cost of the new iPhone model.

It is still unclear how the sapphire glass will be implemented on its iPhone models although previous iPhones have already utilized the said glass on cameras.

Apple has not officially announced the date of the iPhone 6 launch but tech websites and blogs believe it will be launched in September.
