It was recently reported that a potential rematch between the two is "virtually dead" as Pacquiao's camp expressed impatience on the retired pay-per-view king.

The dream rematch of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) and Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) is now almost impossible as Pac-Man's adviser Michael Koncz said that the Filipino will not wait for the retired pound-for-pound champion to make a decision whether he would fight again or not.

Boxing News 24 reported Koncz's statement that Pacquiao's camp "won't wait for him (Mayweather) to make a decision" about the rematch and that he is set to discuss with the eight-division champion about his other options for his supposedly final fight before retirement in April next year.

Top Rank chief Bob Arum gave Pacquiao three names to choose from as his last opponent before embarking full-time on a political career. They are Terence Crawford, Amir Khan, and Timothy Bradley.

The 36-year-old Filipino pugilist had already fought Bradley twice while he still hasn't faced Crawford and Khan in an official boxing match. Khan was his former sparring partner while Crawford is said to be Arum's new cash-cow project.

However, Pacquiao is reportedly leaning on a Mayweather rematch than facing any of the abovementioned boxers as he allegedly wishes to bring in one more humongous payday before he finally calls it quits.

Obviously, the undefeated pay-per-view king is the only one who could make him earn the most at this stage of his career.

Meanwhile, Manila Times' Conrad Cariño said that "Mayweather Jr. clarified that his camp wasn't in talks for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao" before the Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez bout last Saturday, making it "virtually dead".

Cariño also noted that Mayweather-Pacquiao 2, if it actually happens, will not be able to "pack the thunder that the first match lacked" as Money will never "trade leather" and stand toe-to-toe with Pac-Man as it would be a risk to his undefeated record.

A Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch will only make sense if the fans want it to happen and as of the moment, no one seems to care whether the two should meet again or not.

The second match, if ever, will surely not generate the kind of money, even perhaps half of what the first one had earned, not only because it was predictably boring but because the initial bout was so conclusive that the fight per se does not call for a do-over.

The "Fight of the Century" clearly showed that Pacquiao was nowhere near Mayweather's skill and talent as a boxer and it did not entertain casual viewers as it should have, thus the fans will be hard to bother to watch them again.
