A weight-loss diet program of one person might not be applicable to another person.

This is the finding of a recent Israeli study by Weizmann Institute of Science and Rehovot, according to Reuters.

"When two people follow the same weight-loss diet to the letter, but one fails to lose weight, the problem might be their bodies' different responses to the same foods," said Reuters about the study's findings.

Such result was explained in the study by citing that "when two people eat the same meal, one may experience a spike in blood sugar levels when the other person doesn't."

The study subjected 800 adults in the experiment to check on how foods are digested. Health-related data were collected from the subject through questionnaires. Their body measurements, blood tests, stool samples and glucose were monitored. A mobile application was also utilized to monitor their lifestyle and food intake for a total of 46,898 meals. Participants, however, were made to eat similar breakfast every day.

The findings also included that body weight and age have a significant relation to the blood sugar levels every after meal.

It was found out as well that each participant manifested different responses to the same food while their individual responses remained consistent every day.

Researchers Eran Elinay and Eran Segal's study clearly showed that people "can metabolize the exact same foods in very different ways," said Huffington Post.

"Segal and Elinav's research was funded by general academic grants and they received no commercial funding. But the pair said they've already licensed their research methods to an outside company to continue building on their findings," according to Huffington Post. "They want to develop a service that creates personalized nutrition plans for people with pre-diabetes, diabetes, obesity and other health complications that are linked to nutrition."

For one, Segal was able to discover about his body and sugar level through this study.

"I also found out that dark chocolate and ice cream do very little to my sugar levels, and I now eat these on a regular basis," said Segal.
