Chris Hemsworth knows what it means to give back and he's just giving back big time. The Avengers star decided to surprise his parents by paying off their debts, younger brother Liam Hemsworth revealed.

In an interview with Britain's Independent, Hemsworth remembered that Chris asked their father to check his bank account.

"He called my brother Chris back and said: 'I don't know how to feel. Since I left home I have had debts and I thought I'd be paying them off until I died and have this weight hanging over me, and now to have them completely cleared,'" the 25-year old Hunger Games actor said.

Their parents are now happy and "able to spend more time with us, I would love to be able to do something for my parents like that," he continued.

The paying-it-forward bug also caught Liam Hemsworth. He and Chris are now ambassadors for the Australian Childhood Foundation, a non-profit that helps children make it through trauma.

"If you want to be a good person who adds to society, you have responsibility," he said. "That is something I take very seriously."

Last October, their parents Craig and Leonie attended the premier of Liam's film, The Dressmaker.

Photos tweeted by the brothers showed how happy they are as a family, with Liam calling their parents "legendary."

Hemsworth's latest gig, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, is now running in theatres worldwide, while Chris' new movie, In the Heart of the Sea, opens Dec. 11.

Mockingjay Part 2 still remains strong in the box office, taking another $21.2 million on Black Friday. Nevertheless, that's not enough to make it the poorest performing in the Hunger Games series.
