(Photo : Reuters) The paternity of Prince Harry has once again come under the spotlight. Is the late Princess Diana's bodyguard James Hewitt his father?

New reports have surfaced that once again puts into question Prince Harry's paternity after the late Princess Diana's longtime rumored beau James Hewitt was allegedly caught selling several love letters written by the Princess herself.

Widely regarded as a tawdry attempt to cash in on his affair with the beloved royal, the presumably cash-strapped ginger bodyguard presented several handwritten letters from the Princess as well as a couple of notes from her eldest son, Prince William, written when he was five years old. Hewitt allegedly tried to sell it for 100,000 pounds. This was a fraction of the original price he quoted several years ago, after he boasted on US television that he was offered 10 million to publish these purported steamy love notes.

Much of the letters that were sold, however, were more innocent in tone rather than salacious, with one thanking Hewitt for being a wonderful friend.

This isn't the first time that the dashing royal bachelor's parentage has been put on the spotlight. Tabloids have long speculated about who Harry's real father is, with the public leaning towards Hewitt, given the Prince's apparent physical similarities to him versus Prince Charles.

Hewitt's affair with Diana began prior to Prince Harry's birth in 1984. Hewitt was reportedly hired to teach Diana to ride despite her fear of horses. Reports say that the pair became intimate the following year, parallel to persistent rumors that her marriage to Prince Charles, who was involved with Camilla Parker Bowles, was deteriorating.

Princess Diana and Hewitt were together well until 1992 after which Hewitt published a book detailing their relationship.
