In the T.V. ad, after the children sang Hark The Herald Angels Sing, a voiceover speaks over with the song in the background saying "Merry Christmas from your local Coca-Cola bottler."

How did Coca-Cola start with Charlie Brown Christmas?

Due to the massive popularity of the Charlie Brown Christmas during the 1960s, a special Charlie Brown was made in 1966 dubbed Charlie Brown's All-Stars. The Dolly Madison snack cakes brokered a deal with Schulz for it to use the Peanuts characters in the T.V. advertisement. Likewise, Coca-Cola co-sponsored for this Charlie Brown's All-Stars Special.

The special T.V. ad started with both Dolly Madison and Coca-Cola at the opening credits. This, however, was edited out in the subsequent airings and DVD release. Dolly Madison did not want Coca-Cola to go solo in the opening of the ad now that it was a co-sponsor, the early scene was therefore removed.

A Dolly Madison voiceover was added, instead, at the end of the T.V. advertisement, following the voiceover - "Merry Christmas from your local Coca-Cola bottler." This too, however, was removed eventually.

The Charlie Brown Christmas

According to CNN News, the Charlie Brown Christmas marked its 50th year anniversary on Monday night on ABC with star-studded celebration. The event was called "It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown."

The Charlie Brown Christmas first aired in December 9, 1965 on CBS. It instantly became a massive success. Since 1966, it aired every year and continues to be a popular program until today. It gained an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program and won a Peabody Award for distinguished achievement by a television program.
