Four-division world champion and Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) is reportedly planning a comeback during Cinco de Mayo weekend next year against either old-nemesis Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs), British Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs), or the ever-dangerous Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs).

42-year-old Marquez is in semi-retirement and has not fought a single match since his 12-round unanimous decision victory over American Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Inglewood, California in May last year.

Boxing Scene reported Marquez's desire to fight again and possibly have his return bout in his hometown of Mexico City during the country's much-celebrated Cinco de Mayo weekend. The Mexican claims the fight would be his swan song "as a final goodbye to the supporters who followed his long career".

"I thought I was already set on retirement, but then I got an itch to make a fight in our country and to thank the fans for their support, but we must meditate, think, train," Marquez said.

He also said that he had been "training well" as he wants to check himself if he still has that "emotion" to fight again, adding that if he cannot feel it anymore then he will most likely announce his retirement.

If he does feel it, then Cinco de Mayo is his preferred date. However, Marquez still sounded unsure of what he wants to do.

"I'd love for it to be in May, on (Cinco de Mayo), which is celebrated much in Vegas and why not here in Mexico City. It would be my dream, but I have to think about it. It would be two years after my last fight and that would be the end but first I have to put the cards on the table," he ended.

Tha Boxing Voice indicated that his possible opponents are Pacquiao, Brook, and Garcia.

Of the three, Garcia is the most likely to land the match as Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn would be unwilling to allow his ward to fight outside the UK while Pacquiao has already announced that he is boxing for the last time in April before embarking on a full-time political career.
