The Communist Party of China reprimanded more than 6,000 members in July for breaking the rules on anti-bureaucracy, according to the party's discipline agency.

On Sunday, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection revealed that the 6,017 rule-breakers have been tied up in 4,480 cases during the agency's monthly report.

This reflects a slightly lower record from the prior report of CCDI recorded in June where a total of 6,601 people were disciplined for breaching anti-bureaucracy rules.

More than 2,000 CPC members were found guilty and sentenced by Party and administrative discipline agencies.

Some of the rules violated were regarding the excessive and improper use of public funds, work etiquette, workplace regulations, and receiving of bribes or gifts - whether monetary or in kind.

Almost 68,000 people involved were punished before July ended, the CCDI report stated.

In connection to these people, 51,600 cases were thoroughly investigated in the CPC's fight against corruption under Chinese President Xi Jinping's reign.

Before the Mid-Autumn Festival arrives, the CPC has intensified crackdowns on malpractices among its members, especially when it comes to extravagant gifts and misuse of public funds.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, moon cakes are some of the most popular gifts purchased by citizens and officials alike.

On Sunday, the CCDI has initiated a "special tip-off window" where people can report on those who use public funds for such gifts.

Found on the agency's website, the special window urges people to "name and shame" hard-headed officials and open probes on CPC members who will be identified via the tip-off function.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the 'eight-point' formalism and anti-bureaucracy rules were first released in December 2012 during a CPC meeting of the Party's Political Bureau.

The eight-point rules require CPC officials to decrease bureaucratic grandeur during meetings and visits.
