The new Snapdragon 820 clocks at very high speeds when installed in Samsung's Galaxy S7, even surpassing the current bench topnotchers in the market.

Slash Gear reports that while the Korean company has done well with the Exynos 7420 SoC that powers its latest high-end smartphones, rumor has is that Samsung has decided to use a Qualcomm processor inside the upcoming flagship.

The news outlet reports that this shift could possibly be because of rival tech giants. Apple, for example, has its A9 and A8X as topnotchers in benchmark performance charts; while Chinese giant Huawei also ousted the Exynos 7420 with the new Kirin 950.

But now, based on leaked data over the internet, it has been found that the Snapdragon 820 far surpasses any benchmark record made by a smartphone processor to date, provided that it is tested while inside a Galaxy S7.

According to Tech Grapple, the leak that came from a Chinese source revealed that the upcoming flagship will indeed be using the Snapdragon 820. Although single core scores between it and Apple's A9 show the former to be slower at 2456 compared to the latter's score of 2537, when multiple cores are considered, things become different.

Apple's benchmark score may have reached a big 4454, but the Snapdragon 820 reached an all-time high of 5423, clocking the chip at 2.2GHz. This figure, however, is only specific to the Galaxy S7, and is not found in other smartphones.

This means that the Korean phone is able to maximize the SoC's capacities. However, such performance has its downsides – the Snapdragon 820 seems to breathe fire while it works at top speed.

This means that the phone will need a good cooling mechanism to help it run normally and comfortably.

The Snapdragon 820 being included into the device's core might be a good thing for many fans, but according to the Indian Express, the phone might come in two different variants: one having Qualcomm's SoC, and one having Samsung's Exynos.

Aside from the inner components such as the processor and cooling tech being upgraded, reports say that Samsung won't be making major changes on the phone's outer design.
