United States Congressman Mike Rogers said that America is in greater danger than it was before the 9/11 attack with the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) and other al-Qaeda affiliated groups.

Rogers (R-Mi), 51, chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said that ISIS and al-Qaeda terror groups are competing who will be branded the premier terrorist organization. Both groups aim to attack the United States.

During an interview on CBS' Face the Nation, Rogers said that the terror threat matrix is so wide and so deep that the U.S. government did not have the same level of threat before 9/11.

The lawmaker also argued that the U.S. would not solve the terrorism problem in Iraq without confronting those terrorist groups in Syria because they are both related, reports said.

Other than ISIS, reports confirmed that there were some interesting relationships between Al Qaeda's associate in Yemen and its core terror network.

Rogers explained in the interview that people believe an attack is underway that the U.S. government should be worried about it.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Conney said ISIS plans to use foreign fighters carrying U.S. and European passports to execute attacks on U.S. soil. Conney said those fighters are difficult to track.

According to reports, ISIS is now considered a terrorist organization are armed with heavy weaponry, have claimed large territories and controlled certain resources.

When you have a terrorist organization that holds certain large areas, has tanks, helicopters, and have as much as a billion dollars in precious metals and currency, that means it is a severely dangerous organization, Rogers confirmed.

Rogers added that U.S. could work with anti-assad rebel groups that could be friendlier to the U.S. and rallying them against the growing threat of ISIL.
