Tech giant Apple is planning to release a new Apple Watch in March 2016. Reports also claim that the Cupertino-based tech company will release the new Apple Watch along with a smaller version of the iPhone.

The report was first released by 9to5Mac, which claims that Apple is planning a March launch event for two products. First is the second-generation Apple Watch 2 and a smaller iPhone model called iPhone 6C. The smaller iPhone is believed to sport a 4-inch display.

The report came from Mark Gurman, a reliable source when it comes to news or leaks about Apple. This means that the report is more than just a rumor.

Experts believe that Apple will extend the features of the current Apple Watch, as well as add features that were missed on the first-generation smart wearable device. There are speculations that Apple will add extra health sensors on the upcoming Apple Watch.

Apple might add additional features like a camera which will allow users to do video calls. There are also speculations claiming that the smart wearable device will include a sleep tracking feature.

The Apple Watch 2 is also believed to feature more wireless features. Apple released the WatchOS 2 update in September which added native third-party applications for the device. Apple also released new color variants and bands.

In the third quarter of 2015, Apple released 3.9 million units of the Apple Watch. This puts the device on the second spot in terms sale of wearable devices, the first being the FitBit.

According to Forbes, the iPhone 6C will be marketed to users who prefer to use a smaller sized iPhone model. Rumors about the device claim that it will sport the new iPhone A9 processor. The smaller iPhone will also pick a lower price tag compared to the standard iPhone model.
