Latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Now Available for Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge, Note 3, Note 4; Will Android Marshmallow Follow Soon?

(Photo : Reuters) The Android 5.1.1 lollipop update has been released for several Samsung devices.

With the recent update of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Note 4, the Galaxy Note 3 is reported to have been upgraded as well through the custom ROM.

Both the Galaxy Note Edge and Note 4, which are under the T-Mobile and were known to have Android Kitkat, are set to have the updated version of Android Lollipop OTA.  Other carriers like Sprint and AT&T have also upgraded them to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Now, a T-Mobile carrier is finally included in the list as the updated version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA has already been launched to the Note Edge and Note 4 devices, Neurogadget reported.

As reported by Realty Today, only the rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 3 can be upgraded to the new version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop through the custom ROM of SmokkieROM. For now, Galaxy Note 3 may be updated to the 5.0 version of Lollipop OTA.

A bit by bit process is presented by Christian Today on the proper installation of the Lollipop upgrade to the Galaxy Note 3. After the zip files of Google Apps and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop SmokkieROM's Custom ROM have been downloaded to the PC, Galaxy Note 3 must be connected to copy the needed files to the user's phone microSD card. Handsets must be disconnected and turned off to enter the recovery the mode. Press and hold the buttons Home plus Power plus Volume.

Galaxy Note 3 users must wipe off the entire data by through factory reset, wipe cache, move to advanced option then tap the wipe dalvik cache. Move to the main recovery screen, then select the install zip from the SD card option by choosing Android Lollipop custom ROM. Once installed, select Google Apps zip then start to reboot the handset.

With this new update, these devices may seem to be getting the Android Marshmallow soon.
