The book "Winds of Winter" is the sixth instalment of the mythological series, "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin.

Meanwhile, there is no confirmed release date for the book as yet. Some reports indicate that the book may see launch in spring 2016. On the other hand, one rumor also states that Martin may finish the book by Feb. 23, 2016, according to news reports by Yibada.

Martin has canceled mostly all his public appearances in order to finish the manuscript and fans are optimistic that the book may release before "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere. It is highly unlikely for this to happen despite the fact that HBO even postponed the series by almost two months in order to accord more time to the writer to wrap up the book.

An official announcement regarding a possible release schedule or timeline about the book has not been made. This has led to numerous rumors about the tentative release dates about the book.

On the other hand, Martin said that he is committed to the book and will continue writing it even if the television series wraps up. He says that the manuscript takes a lot of time and effort to write and thus the book and the television season may not always be in sync.
