Vu was arrested at the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York when she tried to board a flight to Vietnam with her daughter Isabella on November 3, according to Asian Town.

Richard Froger, Vu's former partner, has legal custody of their 9-year-old daughter, Isabella.

Froger procured an arrest warrant through a family court in Paris after the former Playboy model did not agree to return Isabella to France.

The 32-year-old DJ allegedly booked a flight on the day of her arrest after receiving a state court summons. Vu was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls based on a warrant accusing Vu of being a fugitive due to her failure to the child to her father.

"As much as it does seem to me that holding Miss Vu here is the right thing to do. Our duty is not to deliver Miss Vu to the French authorities," said Judge Viktor Pohorelsky, a Brooklyn Magistrate.

Pohorelsky added that he is 'not happy about it.'

Federal prosecutor Ryan Harris stated that Vu is at risk to be 'on the run' if she is released on bail.

Vu's haggard appearance in the courtroom, wearing a loose prison suit, is a huge difference from the image that she kept as 'Asia's Sexiest DJ'.

Vu said that spending time in prison is a 'nightmare' and 'terrifying' but has high hopes that she will be reunited with Isabella soon.

Isabella was raised by Vu until she was seven years old.

"I believe in the judge and the fairness of the jury and the United States legal system. The fighter in me is keeping me strong, believing I have done all the right things and everything's gonna be alright," Vu said during an interview with Daily News.

The judge can only grant Vu a release on special circumstances such as a terminal illness.
