Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is suing a netizen for uploading "obscene photos" of her taken during an event.

According to Yahoo! News, a fan maliciously took a photo of Fan Bingbing from a press conference for her 2013 movie "One Night Surprise" and heavily edited it to make it look like the actress was groping a Caucasian man. The photo was shared on different websites including Weibo and Weixin among others.

Her management immediately released a statement on the incident on Weibo. They pointed out that the lewd photo created some serious implication on Fan Bingbing's reputation and added that they will be pressing charges against the culprit. They also encouraged fans and other netizens to stop spreading the malicious photo.

"Some unscrupulous media made use of photo-editing apps to create a lewd photo of Fan Bingbing and uploaded it on Weixin, Weibo, and other online platforms. This is truly an evil way of transmitting fake information."

In other news, Fan Bingbing was named by Forbes as one of the top 10 paid actresses in 2015. She is the only non-American on the list and was dubbed as the "empress of China."  

Speaking to Post Magazine, Fan Bingbing shared that being a successful celebrity in China is extremely difficult, explaining that one must have the guanxi [connections] to make it in the industry. She, however, happened to be an exception.

"When I walked into the entertainment industry, my family had no guanxi. So I knew I had to risk failure and bear the consequences alone."

The outlet reported that Fan Bingbing had starred in over 90 films and soap operas on three continents. When asked about her secret, the actress shared that it was about "being in the right place at the right time to do the right thing." She added that it was very important to work hard and love your work.
