Former NBA player and current Beijing Ducks hotshot Stephon Marbury received a one-game suspension on Monday for his controversial post-game comments on the officiating in a Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) game against arch-rival Guandong Southern Tigers.

According to Xinhua, with 6:15 to go in the third quarter, Marbury, who has guided the Beijing Ducks to three CBA championship crowns in the past four years, was called for a technical foul after he "behaved in an inappropriate way" over a refereEING decision, said the CBA.

The former NBA star posted comments on Weibo questioning the refereeing in the game. He also attached some netizens' comments concerning the incident in his message.

Marbury recently inaugurated his own museum in Beijing. He was named honorary citizen of Beijing for his undeniable popularity in his adopted hometown and he has his own statue outside the team's home court. He was granted a Chinese "Green Card" by the City of Beijing.

Stephon Marbury, who is also known as "Starbury," entered the NBA alongside Kobe Bryant in the 1996 draft batch which also included Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Peja Stojakovic, Steve Nash, Jarmaine O'Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Derek Fisher.

Marbury is the 1996 NBA Draft 4th over-all pick selected by the Milwaukee Bucks, but he was traded shortly afterward to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played college basketball with Georgia Institute of Technology.

He is a two-time NBA all-star, fitting in 2001 and 2003. In year 2000 and 2003, Marbury was a member of All-NBA Third Team. He was also included in the 1997 NBA All-Rookie First Team.

He previously played for New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics in the NBA. Marbury is currently playing for the Beijing Ducks in the CBA.

Marbury will miss Wednesday's home game against Qingdao. He has averaged 17.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game this season.

The league's defending champion currently placed seventh in CBA with 17-9. The Beijing ballclub was also fined 20,000 yuan (about $3,000 USD).
