Mo'ne Davis is the star of the Little League World Series and the idol of many young girls in the United States.

The 13-year-old captured the nation's attention and the hearts of many girls in the country with her blazing fastball and waist-length braids. On Sunday, Davis's team, the Philadelphia-based Taney Dragons pulled out with a 7-6 victory against a squad from Texas.

For many of her younger fans, Davis is the epitome of their baseball dreams.

Jaden Wray, 8, came to the Sunday night's game with her father. The Seneca girl told ESPN that she watched Davis play twice because "I wanted her to teach me baseball."

Older girls, on the other hand, have deeper appreciation for Davis - the only American girl in this year's LLWS - who is treading in an unchartered territory.

Joclin Johnson, 13, of South Williamsport, said it's "kind of daring" to see how Davis "goes against what everyone says."

Kimberly Foster, 16, of Montoursville, is glad that Davis's teammates accept her, saying that many "boys diss softball players just because they don't think we're as good."

Foster's younger sister, 14-year-old Faith, thinks that "boys wouldn't like it if the girl was as good as them," and other girls will only feel jealousy toward a baseball player who is a female.

Davis's team failed to advance to the championship game after suffering an 8-1 loss to Las Vegas on Wednesday. Still, seeing the 13-year-old superstar make her mark on the pitch brought mixed feelings to many of her fans.

Heather Lorah, 15, played Little League baseball until she got to the seventh grade, but had to let go of the sport because her parents "weren't really sure I'd fit in with the boys."

Lorah's friend, 15-year-old Silka, said she would've played baseball too but she thought she'd "fit in better" with an all-girl team sport.
