Carl Edwards is set to join the roster of the Joe Gibbs Racing team starting in 2015.

Joe Gibbs, owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, announced Tuesday that Edwards will drive for a new fourth team that will be launched next year. He will join other JGR drivers, including Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth.

Edwards debuted in 2005 at the Roush Fenway Racing. Since then, he has collected a total of 23 career Sprint Cup wins. The 35-year-old ranks eighth in the current Cup standings, but he is slated to make the Chase if he rakes in two wins this year.

Video and broadband technology company Arris group will sponsor the veteran driver for 17 of the 38 races next season. But Gibbs noted that the team already has sponsorship for most of the other events.

Edwards made the news last month after he announced that he decided to leave Roush Fenway Racing.

On Tuesday, the veteran driver told reports that his goal is to win a championship, much like Kenseth, who experienced success after moving to JGR following the 2012 season.

Edwards said that his former teammate's success was "a big eye-opener," and prompted his decision to change teams.

Trevor Bayne was tapped to replace Edwards in next year's Sprint Cup. Bayne's car will soon bear No. 6, which is a change from Edwards' No. 99. Aside from Bayne, Roush's driver lineup for the Sprint Cup series next year will also include Greg Biffle and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Edwards, on the other hand, will drive the No. 9 Toyota for JGR alongside Busch, Hamlin and Kenseth.

Meanwhile, Arris group is also set to sponsor Mexican driver Daniel Suarez for the Nationwide Series in 2015. Suarez is a member of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity, competing full time in the NASCAR Mexico Series. He is also scheduled to join a partial season in next year's Truck Series.
