Basketball News: Former NBA All-Star Shawn Marion Holds Basketball Clinic for Chinese Kids

Four-time NBA All-Star Shawn Marion hosted a basketball clinic for a 200 children in Chengu, China on Tuesday as part of the NBA's celebration of the Chinese New Year.

According to USA Today, the NBA player found, as he looked at hundreds of young NBA enthusiasts, that there's a universal behavior among kids when it comes to basketball: They're all ball hogs.

"Everybody just wanted to shoot," Marion said, even though he had assisted the kids with dribbling drills and passing drills.

Marion, 37, a retired professional basketball player, played 16 long seasons in the National Basketball Association. He retired with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2014-2015 season. He was the ninth overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft selected by the Phoenix Suns, where he spent over nine years of his basketball career.

Duirng his stint with the Suns, the former NBA player was selected to the Western Conference All-Star team in his sophomore year with the ballcub. He was also included in the US Olympic men's basketball team in the 2004 Athens Olympics in Greece, where the United States failed to bring home gold, but managed to capture only bronze.

In 2005, he became the first player since David "the Admiral" Robinson of the San Antonio Spurs in 1991-92 season to average in the top five in the rebounding and steals department.

The Phoenix Suns traded Marion along with teammate Marcus Banks to the Miami Heat for the All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal in the first quarter of the year 2008. He was transferred to the Toronto Raptors the following year.

On July 2009, he was again traded to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a four-team swap that involved Toronto, Dallas, Memphis and Orlando. With the Mavericks, "the Matrix" won his first NBA championship in the 2010-11 NBA season when Dallas defeated the Miami 4-2 in 2011 NBA Finals.

On June 18, 2015, following the Cavaliers' NBA Finals loss to the Stephen Curry-led Golden States Warriors, Marion announced his retirement from the NBA after 16 seasons.
