Actor Billy Crystal will be leading a tribute for his former co-star and longtime friend, Robin Williams, at the upcoming Emmy Awards this Monday.

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on NBC.

Late night talk show host Seth Meyers will be hosting the awards ceremony.

Don Mischer, the producer of the big awards ceremony, confirmed the news, sharing, "We felt we needed to do something powerful and memorable. Billy seemed like the perfect choice."

Williams and Crystal both starred in the 1997 comedy "Father's Day" and remained friends since then.

This will be the first time since the tragecy that Crystal will be talking lengthily about his friendship with Williams. After news broke of the actor's demise, Crystal simply took to Twitter and wrote "No Words," a sentiment shared by so many around the world.

Regarding the Emmy tribute, Misher shared that the production team is currently talking about how best they can present Williams' In Memoriam.

"While we are all still coming to terms with this week's tragic news, we are working to give Robin Williams the proper and meaningful remembrance he so well deserves," he added.

The tribute for Williams will also feature a performance by Grammy winner Sara Bareilles. Bareilles wrote a song entitled "Hercules" especially for the tribute.

Coincidentally, Williams had taken to the stage during last year's Emmy awards to pay tribute to his friend and mentor, comedian Jonathan Winters.

When the actor was alive, he was nominated for an Emmy eight times and won twice.

The larger-than-life performer was found dead in his home on August 11 after he committed suicide.

The actor was said to have been battling depression, which was brought about by many factors, including the cancellation of "The Crazy Ones" and a diagnosis which concluded that he was in the early stages of Parkinson's.

Williams was 63.
