Basketball Rumors: Justin Carter to Leave Pinar Karsiyaka of Turkish Basketball Super League for Guangdong

American professional basketball player Justin Carter is said to be on his way to China to play for the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, according to sources.

Carter, who plays for Pinar Karsiyaka basketball club in the Turkish Basketball Super League and in the Eurocup, is departing the club to sign with Guangdong, according to Spotrando.

The 28-year-old American played college basketball with the Creighton University of the NCAA Division I from 2008 to 2010. Carter is as listed 6 feet 4 and 200 pounds. He can play the position of a shooting guard and a small forward.

He played a total of 65 games for the Bluejays while averaging 8.85 points, 5.92 rebounds, 1.88 assist, 0.91 steal and 0.38 shot block per game.

Carter went undrafted in the 2010 NBA draft making him an unrestricted free agent. He moved to Slovakia for the 2010-11 season and signed with BK Vahostav-SK Zilina. After that, he moved to Turkey and played for several teams there.

Most recently, he played for Uşak Sportif of the Turkish Basketball League (TBL), the pre-eminent professional men's basketball league in Turkey.

Carter signed with the Galatasaray Liv Hospital basketball team of Turkey in late December 2014 and played for the club for the rest of the 2014-15 season.

He joined the Phoenix Suns for the 2015 Las Vegas Summer League in July 2015, registering 2.5 points in 5.3 minutes of playing time in his total of 4 games played with the team.

Carter returned to Turkey following the Summer League and signed with Pinar Karsiyaka on July 28, 2015.

Guandong Southern Tigers currently sit at the fifth spot in the CBA league standing with a record of 24 wins and 9 losses. If Carter gets signed by the team, he will be playing along with the Chinese basketball superstar and former NBA player Jianlian Yi.
