The melamine milk scandal also is included in the list as this is one of the news that had a global impact. The melamine was added into the milk the increase the 'protein' content of the product.

Most people can remember the face chicken egg news. Chinese people used calcium carbonate to imitate the egg shell, while they use sodium alginate, edible calcium chloride and gelatin for the yolk and white. The color of the yolk is imitated with the use of food coloring.

There is also the fake rice issue that affected countries importing goods from China. It was in 2010 when a large amount of noodles was found out to be made with rotten grain and carcinogenic additives. The fake rice is made up of plastic, sweet potatoes and potatoes. These are shaped into grains with added artificial resins.

Other fake foods include: blue pork scandal, fake wine, fake meat from rats, and walnut-filled cement. These controversies have left China with impressions of dishonesty in terms of manufacturing food products. If another more food scandal is found out, China's credibility will definitely be affected. The issues on fake foods may be China's wake-up call, to uplift its economy in terms of exporting food items.
