Basketball News: Former NBA Player Jamaal Franklin Bags Another Player of the Week Award in the CBA

Former NBA shooting guard Jamaal Franklin of Shanxi Zhonghu Brave Dragons had an outstanding triple-double performance in his team's 129-117 win against Qingdao Eagles, earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com Player of the Week in the last 34th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

The 24-year-old American professional basketball player showcased a very impressive game night scoring 30 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out an unselfish 18 big assists.

Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons currently sis in the 10th and 11th place having similar team standing with the Dongguan Leopards of 17 wins and 18 losses. The club is unlikely to make the playoffs this season as the team's latest victory will not have any influence on the top of the standings.

The former Denver Nuggets player had a remarkable 53.8 percent shooting from the 2-point area and connected 6 treys out of his 14 attempts from the three-point region. Franklin has turned to be the Shanxi's top player in his first season with the ballclub with his very impressive stats this year.

Franklin is the CBA's leader in assists and steal, having an average of 10.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game.  He placed fifth in the league's best in scoring, producing 33.1 points per game. He also average a good 1.5 shot blocks per game and has a 59.8 field goal percentage.

Franklin is the 2013 NBA draft 41st overall pick selected by the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite of not appearing for the franchise in the 2013 NBA Summer League, Franklin signed with the Grizzlies. He was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Developmental League during his rookie season. The ballclub waived Franklin on August 2014.

He played college basketball for the San Diego State University from 2010 to 2013.

He first arrived in China on October 2014 signing in for a two-month contract with Zhejiang Lions of the CBA and appeared for 26 games with the team.
