Prosecutors presented an explicit Japanese anime on Thursday as evidence against a young woman, who allegedly abducted and raped a five-year-old girl from Philadelphia.

The 21-year-old former day care worker Christina Regusters reportedly viewed the anime portraying sexual torture very frequently, resulting in the possibility of using the material as proof of motive for the rape case against her.

"The only way to establish motive and intent is to introduce this evidence," Erin O'Brien, assistant district attorney, declared adding that because of the new evidence they have come to conclude that Regusters was the only one involved in the crime and that she is indeed interested in girls.

On the other hand, Judge Jeffrey Minehart decided that the show cannot be admitted as evidence since its cartoon nature is too detached from the crime.

He explained that though the images are 'horrid and vulgar,' they cannot be used as proof that the defendant had sexually abused the victim adding that viewing or having a copy of the material is not unlawful.

In January 2013, the five-year-old victim was taken from her Bryant Elementary School kindergarten around 8:50 in the morning by a woman posing as her mother. The little girl was said to have been held captive for 18 hours.

Even though she was blindfolded the entire time, she led authorities to the 21-year-old suspect after she was found at a playground, shivering due to the cold.

She described to the police the details about the encounter, explaining that she heard a talking bird at the house where she was taken to.

A trial set on Thursday was postponed to Monday to allow the defendant's lawyer, W. Fred Harrison Jr., to review the new evidence for kidnapping, aggravated assault and rape charges.

Prior to this development, Harrison had planned to prove to court that there were other people involved in the crime.

Now seven years old, the unnamed victim will testify in court next week.
