Recent reports have emerged that Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho have offered himself to play for English Premier League club Newcastle United FC, but the Magpies have allegedly turned down the proposal.

Metro indicated that "Newcastle United have been offered a shock deal for Ronaldinho" as the 35-year-old forward is currently a free agent after he requested for a contract termination with his most recent team, Brazilian Serie A's Fluminense FC, in September of last year.

Another EPL side, Leicester City FC, is said to be keen on signing the former Barcelona star during the winter transfer window, but he rejected the offer as he was said to be contemplating on a move to China this year.

With Chinese squads allegedly not returning calls, Ronaldinho's camp have approached the Magpies for the possibility of suiting up for them for the rest of the season.

However, Ronaldinho's UK agent Barry O'Connor said that his client's £6 million per year salary demand has made the St. James' Park residents back down from the offer.

"Asking any club to pay that amount for a 36-year-old no matter what his past pedigree is a big ask," said O'Connor, as per Bleacher Report. "If I am totally realistic any club interested in signing Ronaldinho would probably want to do a deal on a pay as you play basis."

"The big question is whether Ronaldinho would be able to handle the cut and thrust of the pace of the game here in England. He wants a chance big time and sees playing here in England as the ideal way to finish his career," he ended.

With his unique skills, techniques, and tricks on the pitch, there was a time when the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year was deemed as the world's best footballer, but his best days were already behind him especially after he left Italian club AC Milan in January 2011 to come back to Brazil to play for Flamengo.
