NBA Recap: Orlando Magic Beat Philadelphia 76ers, Nikola Vucevic Scores 35 Points

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Nikola Vucevic scored a season-high 35 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block shot as Magic triumphed over the 79ers.

Eastern Conference Southeast Division fifth ranking team Orlando Magic got the better of the league's lowly squad Philadelphia 76ers with a 124-115 victory at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday evening.

Montenegrin center Nikola Vucevic scored a season-high 35 points against the club that he played with in his rookie season in the NBA, leading Magic to their 25th win in the 55 games this season.

The 2011 NBA draft 16th overall pick selected by the 76ers also grabbed 9 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and posted 1 block shot in 36.39 minutes of playing time.  The product of the USC Trojans went 13 for 21 from the field and made a perfect 9 for 9 from the foul line.

"I wanted to come out and lead the way so they can follow me," said Vucevic, who is averaging 17.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists a game this season.

With the win, Orlando, who will be hosting the league's leading and defending champions Golden States Warriors on Thursday, improved to 25-30 record and registered the their 10th victory in the 26 games played on road this season.

"Golden State will score 300 on us if we play like that," Orlando Magic coach Scott Skiles said. "Of course, we're glad to get a win. But even finishing out the game, just throwing the ball all around and stuff, it's hard to feel good about it."

Guard Victor Oladipo contributed 22 points, while Evan Fournier had 21 for the Magic. Aaron Gordon registered a remarkable double-double game performance of 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners.

The Magic ended the first half of the game with a five-point lead 67-62. In the third quarter, the 76ers were able to cut the deficit in to just four with a 31-30 run going into the final quarter of the ball game.

Philadelphia, who committed 22 turnovers and allowed 20 fast break points, was limited to just 22 points in final period.

Ish Smith scored 22 points and Jahlil Okafor had 17 for the 76ers, who dropped to 8-48.
