The Boston Celtics have reportedly expressed interest in trading for New York Knicks' superstar Carmelo Anthony before the NBA trade deadline last week, but there are no official reports saying if the talks went on and reached an "advanced stage".

ESPN reported about Boston's recent approach to the Knicks, but the 17-time NBA champion squad have also said that "Anthony had no desire to leave the Knicks via trade to play for the Celtics".

That comment from the Celtics reportedly "aligns" with the 31-year-old, nine-time All-Star had been saying all these time, that he wants to win a championship with New York.

"Doing it in New York is better than doing it any place in the world," Anthony said before the All-Star break. "One in New York is better than multiple somewhere else. That was the reason I wanted to come to New York. That's the reason I'm in New York... I don't want to run. I could have run somewhere when I was a free agent. I came back for a reason. I don't feel like I got to keep expressing that part of why I came back to New York."

However, with the Knicks currently out of playoff contention, toting a 24-35 record enough for 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings, and six-and-a-half games behind eighth-seeded Charlotte Bobcats, speculations abound that Anthony is slowly changing his mind about staying loyal to NYC.

Just recently, Anthony gave a cryptic response when asked by reporters if another season of getting disqualified for the playoffs would cause him to contemplate about his future with New York.

"Not yet. Not yet. Not yet," he said. "I'm pretty sure I'll have that conversation with myself, my family, my team (agents). That's not a conversation right now."

Another rumor emerging is that he blocked his supposed trade to the Celtics last week because he's planning on going to a championship contender and not on another rebuilding team.

"No. Heck no," said Anthony on Wednesday, via the New York Daily News. He was referring to the Knicks management never asking him to waive his no-trade clause to push through a deal with Boston.
