The release of the Apple iPhone 6 is drawing closer and retailers are starting to drop iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C prices to make room for new stocks and releases.

According to CNET, Walmart dropped the iPhone 5S price to US$79 from US$99 and the iPhone 5C to 97 cents from US$29. These lower prices are only for two-year contracts, however.

The price drops are interpreted as a move to welcome the iPhone 6, which is rumored to be release this September. On Aug. 21, Walmart reportedly cut the prices of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

The discount is available for all colors of the devices for a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T, US Cellular or Sprint.

Apple Insider also said trade-in deals are currently available at the gadget swapping website Gazelle.com.

Gazzelle's mechanics of selling second hand iPhones are advantageous and hassle-free for owners that want to upgrade their iPhones into bigger, more powerful and faster builds.

Apple Insider mentioned an iPhone 5S deal that sells for US$350. It is a 64 GB unit in a supposed "flawless state."

Once a deal is agreed upon, Gazelle will ship the phone in a box unit owners can use in shipping the device. There is a price-lock deal that allows sellers to send the units at a pre-agreed schedule for a fixed sell value guarantee.

Swappers may also zero in on a price agreement now and choose to ship out the iPhone 5S by Oct. 10 just in time for an upgrade following the iPhone 6 release date.
