Microsoft has gone a step further in improving the gaming experience by reducing irritating lag problems.

The new step involves cloud gaming that run games off of powerful servers and streams them to small boxes attached to TVs. The best graphics are said to be experienced on cloud gaming.

However, the con of this idea is that it takes time for game feeds and this explains delay or lag problems.

But researchers from Microsoft found a solution to this cloud gaming problem.

They've come up with new design software called "DeLorean." It predicts what gamers should do next.

Multiple different gaming scenarios are played out at the same time on the servers. These scenarios are sent to the gamers' home before gamers make the next move.

If the gamer decides who to shoot or in which direction to move, image frames are already queued and ready for action on the gamers' devices.

DoLerean is a migration technology that can further reduce cloud gaming lags.

It gives gamers a nearly lag-free gaming experience.

Researchers said they tested DoLerean with Doom 3 and Fable 3 and it made gameplay acceptable at delays of up to 250 milliseconds.

Without DoLerean, delays of 100 ms or even 60 ms can significantly hinder the gaming experience.

DoLerean uses information on how players proceed through game and their individual styles to best predict gamers' moves.

It will make a number of guesses and pre-cache these guesses on the gaming device.

If there are missed guess, the system allows the device to perform simple 3D perspective adjustments to one of the incorrect predictions.

Researchers said DoLerean is based on the Speculative Executive System. It make gamers feel like they're playing locally and is able to give them a better feeling when playing via reduced lags.

DeLorean is being beta tested and will be officially released after gaining feedback from users.
