Rams Quarterback Sam Bradford Out with Another Torn ACL

St. Louis Rams starting quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the season again due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament on the left knee for the second consecutive year.

Bradford incurred the injury in the first quarter of the team's 33-14 preseason victory over the Cleveland Browns. He was hit by Browns defensive end Armonty Bryant while working on a pass.

"We lost our quarterback," said Jeff Fisher, Rams Coach, on Sunday. "For Sam, it was devastating."

The first overall pick of the 2010 draft missed a total of nine games last season.

Bradford's injury can change the tide for the Rams, a team that was slowly building their poise when Bradford returned after his first injury.

The 26-year-old will be replaced by Shaun Hill, who is considered as one of the league's reliable backup quarterbacks. What concerns about Hill is his 13-13 record as a starter. He has not played a starting role since 2010 and is believed to be past his prime at age 34.

Fisher is very optimistic about Shaun's abilities stating that the whole team is confident with his experience. Hill has a decent record of 62 percent successful career passes with a 41-23 TD-INT ratio.

Aside from Hill, The Rams also have Austin Davis and Garrett Gilbert, the sixth round pick who is currently experiencing a struggle on his game. Tim Tebow may be on the list as well.

Alternatively, Brian Schottenheimer, the team's offensive coordinator, has the option of upgrading their offense into a running game.

A year ago, the Rams attempted to Ryan Griffin as their remedy when Bradford has his first injury. The Rams failed to do so as the Saints opened a spot on the roster and convinced him to join the team.

The Rams may now consider other options since Bradford is coming of two torn ACL injuries in a row.
