Italian Serie A club US Sassuolo Calcio is reportedly determined to keep their £19.7 million-rated striker Domenico Berardi this summer amidst an aggressive interest from cash-rich English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

TalkSport noted that "the 21-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Italian football and has six goals to his name this season after finding the net 15 times last year" and that the Spurs are "on the hunt for attacking reinforcements this summer and have scouted the striker on several occasions".

"Domenico Berardi? Why can't his future be at Sassuolo? I hope he stays another year, though I wouldn't want to limit his growth," team owner Giorgio Squinzi said during a recent interview. "He found the right environment here. The coach is excellent at developing youngsters."

With those comments from I Neroverdi's boss Squinzi, it looks like Tottenham has the 6-foot-1 Cariati, Italy native in the bag at the end of the season.

However, Caught Offside reported that aside from the Spurs, three other teams from the Italian top flight is also interested in snagging the youngster from Sassuolo, namely reigning champions Juventus FC and other powerhouse squads AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Tottenham is set to compete assertively, though, as reports were out that manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to receive a huge transfer warchest from club officials this summer if his team qualify for next season's Champions League tournament.

The Spurs are currently at the second spot of the EPL table, five points behind league leaders Leicester City and seven points adrift of the last Champions League qualifying berth which is presently held by Manchester City.

The report said that Pochettino will use £19.7 million of those funds to snag Berardi from the Modena residents to complete their plan of playing him alongside Tottenham's resident striker Harry Kane in a potential two-man attacking crew.

Berardi had been with Sassuolo in his so far entire four-year senior career. He had appeared in a total of 125 games in all competitions for I Neroverdi since the 2012-2013 season and had found the net 48 times during the said time span.
