Lin Dan has written his name again in the history of the oldest badminton event in the world by winning his sixth All England Championships on Sunday.

The current BWF No. 4 Lin of China eased past compatriot Tian Houwei, who is the No. 8 in the world ranking,  in two straight sets 21-9, 21-10. Lin only took 45 minutes to claim the victory. This was the two-time Olympic gold medalist's easiest match in the entire tournament.

"I felt extremely happy," Lin, who is also a five-time world champion, said. "Since I was here for the first time in 2002, I have played 11 or 12 tournaments, reaching the finals nine times and winning six. It is not easy. You need to maintain good shape each time and play your best."

"I never expect the final is so easy," he added. "I made very good preparation for it. I know I will have a good chance."

Tian, 24, who has gathered 61,502 points in the 19 tournaments he competed in, never seemes like a threat to Lin compared to his previous opponents such as the sensational Xue Song and the Dane Jan O Jorgensen in the semifinal and quarterfinal round respectively.

According to Xinhua, the men's singles title was China's only victory in the final. This year's campaign is the country's worst performance in 17 years of competing at the All England badminton championships.  Since 1999, the Asian badminton powerhouse had won at least two titles each year.

In the women's final, the tournament's seventh seed and current world No. 5 China's Wang Shixian yielded to the Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in a 21-11, 16-21, 21-19 defeat.

The world No. 8 Okuhara upset the world No. 1 Carolina Marin of the Spain in their semifinal match last Saturday. The 21-year-old is the first Japanese women's singles player to win the prestigious title in 39 years.
