San Diego, Cali resident Douglas McCain was killed late Saturday in Syria, as two U.S. officials confirmed that McCain was fighting for the Jihadist extremist group ISIS. McCain's uncle, Kenneth McCain, stated the U.S. State Department informed the family that Douglas had been fighting for the ISIS and indeed had been killed.

McCain's uncle states Douglas was away seeing sights, as he loved to travel. Kenneth explained that he knew of his nephew journey in to Turkey. However, McCain's uncle stated that he was unaware of Douglas traveling all the way through in to Syria.

Friends and family say he was very passionate about his religion, yet they had no suspicion of his recent activities with the ISIS group.

Douglas McCain died in battle between other rival extremist organizations in the inner city streets of Aleppo - Syria's largest city and at one point the flourishing commercial capitol.

Just as the U.S. official's recent report, the extremist group described McCain as an ISIS warrior and stated that he died in battle during an Al-Nusra Front encounter. Al-Nusra is an Al-Qaeda-linked extremist group that the United States Government recently blacklisted as a foreign terror organization.

Surprisingly, Douglas McCain is not the first American citizen to fight along side with enemy militants in Syria, nor was he the first killed. However, McCain is being deemed the first American citizen killed while aiding the extremists group ISIS.

McCain's death takes on added significance given the evolution of the American military tactics and strategy pertaining to the Islamic State in Syria.

Join Chief of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey states that until now the United States government claims to have had a limited involvement in Syria to diplomatic efforts and supporting a 'moderate opposition'. According to U.S. officials, The United States recently started gathering intelligence on the locations of ISIS leadership and troop in Syria.

This leaves many unanswered questions, and some fear that this may cause a stir-up in surveillance and intelligence here on the home front. While the citizens of the United States of America absolutely want to aid in the apprehension of any terrorist affiliate, however, some do not feel it should be the expense of their own rights freedoms.
