A report from Rotherham, UK regarding child abuse has revealed that 1,400 young victims were subjected to sexual exploitation for more than 16 years.

According to reports, gangs from Asia abused, groomed and traded children as young as 11 years old in England while authorities allowed the pedophiles to continue their reign of terror for 16 years, escalating the number of victims to over a thousand children.

Victims were treated as 'undesirables' while their cases were swept under the carpet by authorities fearful of being dubbed as racists since, majority of the assailants were Asians.

The Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council commissioned Professor Alexis Jay in October 2013 to work on an independent inquiry about the child sexual exploitation case, covering cases between 1997 and 2013.

During the 16-year period, the report found out that many youngsters were 'abducted, beaten, and intimidated' by the child exploiters and suffered an indescribable amount of torture while they were detained.

Some of the children were doused in petrol and threatened with being set on fire. Others were made to watch violent rapes and warned that they would be next if they spoke of what they saw, the report stated.

According to the inquiry, fear of being described as 'racists' is seen as the major reason behind the inaction of authorities, while several staff were directly ordered not to identify ethnic origins of suspects for the case.

After the series of leadership failures were exposed, Rotherham Borough Council head Roger Stone has decided to take full responsibility for the Council's lack of action in the child abuse cases and plans on resigning from office effective immediately.

"I believe it is only right that as leader I take responsibility for the historic failings described so clearly," the RBC head declared.

On the other hand, despite the blatant failure in leadership, it is alleged that no one else will face punishment for lack of action over the years.
