Stoic Studio announced plans for 'The Banner Saga 2' way back in 2014. The story of the sequel will pick up just weeks after the end of the first game's story. The game will retain its RPG-adventure management type of gameplay. In terms of graphics, the sequel will also retain the beautiful hand-drawn art style.

Stoic Studio promises that the sequel will introduce new combat variety along with new races and in-game characters.

The first 'The Banner Saga' game was released in January 2014 and was originally planned to be a trilogy. The development of the project was funded through a 2012 Kickstarter campaign, which raised more than $750,000.

'The Banner Saga' received mostly positive reviews from game critics. The game's innovative storytelling and decision making elements offer a fresh new look at how games should be presented.

'The Banner Saga' employs a turned-based-strategy battle mechanics, something that has been used and tested for many years. While its battle system may not be its strongest element, the game was still regarded as one of the best at the time it was released.
