Cuba is under the spotlight these days. First, there was the historic visit of US President Barack Obama and now an equally historic concert by iconic band Rolling Stones - their first ever in the country! The band staged two hours of shrieking, amazing rock and roll amidst hundreds of thousands of Cubans and foreign visitors on Friday night.

The band's famous members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts flared up the Cuban's spirits with "Jumpin' Jack Flash" ''Sympathy for the Devil," "Satisfaction" and many more of their hit songs.

"Havana, Cuba, and the Rolling Stones!" Jagger wailed. "This is amazing! It's really good to be here! It's good to see you guys!"

The Stones frolicked through 18 of their most iconic songs during their two-hour concert in the open-air Ciudad Deportiva (Sports City). The crowd could not help but kept on calling "Rollings! Rollings!"

The Rolling Stones is the first and so far the biggest mainstream rock band to perform in Cuba after the Communist government isolated the country from the United States and its allies after the 1959 revolution.

At its prime, the communist regime scowled on U.S. and British bands that ownership of Beatles and Rolling Stones albums had to be done quietly. But Cuba has changed since then.

Among the high profile fans who joined the crowd in cheering the band included supermodel Naomi Campbell, actor Richard Gere and singer Jimmy Buffet. Alejandro Castro, the son of Cuban leader Raul Castro, played a crucial role in improving the relations between Cuba and the United States. He was seen greeting friends and relatives after the show.

"We know that years back it was hard to hear our music in Cuba, but here we are playing. I also think the times are changing," Jagger told the crowd in Spanish.

Fans began arriving at the Sports City as early as 18 hours before the concert began, many of them traveled a long way, some from other Caribbean islands and the nearby United States just to witness the event.

Cuban state media believes that over half a million people flocked to the venue for the concert.
